Sea Ray 200 Overnighter

This customer came in with their Sea Ray 200 OV not sure what the situation was with the flex and cracking occurring in the transom. Turns out after some initial inspections that the whole transom board was rotten and needed replacement. With the engine removed from the boat, the laminate was cut away on the outside and the entire transom board removed to get rid of all moisture & rot present. After cleaning & regrinding the laminate, a new fiber board transom core was made to suit the size and thickness required and we set up for applying the new board into place. A new fresh internal laminate was applied initially and the transom board clamped into it. Once cured, the edges were ground back, a bonding paste applied to fill all voids around the perimeter and then a new series of laminates applied on top including a woven roving as per the original laminate spec. Once the external laminate was all cured, it was time to go about fairing out the transom and getting a gelcoat colour match. After the gelcoat was resprayed it was on to the home straight of this repair including a full cut & buff of the transom & then rigging the engine back on and running up to ensure it was all operational. Another boat ready to serve many more years of fun to the owners with its new transom!
